Custom Leather Menu Covers with Elastic Binding | A4 & 8.5 × 11 in

This collection brings together custom leather menu covers with elastic binding designed around two of the most common paper formats:

  • A4 — 21 × 29.7 cm / approximately 8.27 × 11.69 in
  • US Letter — 8.5 × 11 in / approximately 21.6 × 27.9 cm

All models in this collection use one of these standard full-size sheets as the basis for the printed content.

The main difference between the formats is the direction in which the sheet is folded.

Depending on the construction, the paper can be folded:

  • horizontally;
  • vertically.

This means the same standard A4 or 8.5 × 11 in sheet can be used to create very different proportions — from a classic book-style menu to a long, narrow wine or cocktail menu.

At the same time, elastic binding makes it easy to replace the printed pages without replacing the leather cover itself.

One Standard Sheet — Different Menu Formats

A client does not need to order an unusual paper size in order to create a distinctive menu format.

The starting point can remain a standard A4 or US Letter / 8.5 × 11 in sheet.

What changes is the way the sheet is folded.

For example, US Letter 8.5 × 11 in paper can be folded to create:

  • a classic compact book-style menu;
  • a long, narrow menu format.

The same principle works with A4 paper.

This is particularly convenient for restaurants, hotels, designers and agencies that already work with standard printing formats.

Horizontal or Vertical Fold

Both folding directions are used within this collection.

Horizontal Fold

This format creates more traditional book-style proportions.

It works well for:

  • main menus;
  • food menus;
  • breakfast menus;
  • dessert menus;
  • tasting menus;
  • presentation materials.

Vertical Fold

A vertical fold creates a longer and narrower folder.

This format works particularly well for:

  • wine lists;
  • cocktail menus;
  • drink menus;
  • bar menus;
  • special selections;
  • event presentation materials.

The same standard paper size can therefore be used very differently depending on the purpose of the project.

Elastic Binding for Easy Page Replacement

Printed pages are held in place using an elastic cord binding system.

This construction does not require a bulky metal ring mechanism and allows the printed content to be changed quickly.

When the menu or presentation materials need to be updated, the process is simple:

  1. remove the elastic cord;
  2. remove the previous printed sheets;
  3. insert the new folded pages;
  4. return the elastic cord to its position.

This is particularly practical for restaurant menus that change regularly, but the same system also works well for presentation folders where the printed content may be prepared specifically for one event, campaign or product presentation.

Single-Layer or Double-Thickness Leather Construction

There are two main types of construction within this collection.

Single-Layer Leather Covers

Lighter models use a single main leather layer.

They are:

  • lighter;
  • more flexible;
  • easy to handle;
  • more relaxed and minimalist in character.

This can be a good option for hospitality or event projects that need a lightweight leather cover without additional structural rigidity.

Double-Thickness Leather Covers

Other models use a double-thickness leather construction.

These folders:

  • hold their shape more effectively;
  • feel more substantial;
  • have more defined geometry;
  • can stand upright.

The same elastic-binding system can therefore be used in either a flexible menu cover or a more structured presentation-style construction.

A Clean Leather Interior — No Exposed Flesh Side

For us, the inside of the folder should look as finished as the outside.

That is why we finish the interior with leather so that the unfinished flesh side of the leather is not visible.

When the folder is opened, the guest or client sees:

  • a finished leather exterior;
  • a finished leather interior;
  • clean edges;
  • a carefully completed construction.

This is especially important for folders that are frequently opened in the hands of a restaurant guest or used during a presentation.

The interior is not treated as a technical reverse side of the product.

It is part of the design.

Perimeter Stitching Without Interior Seam Lines

Another characteristic detail of this construction is the clean stitching layout.

We stitch the folder around the outer perimeter without creating unnecessary stitch lines across the interior.

This keeps the inside:

  • clean;
  • visually calm;
  • minimal;
  • refined.

There is no network of additional interior seams competing visually with the leather, printed pages or branding.

This works particularly well for minimalist hospitality concepts and premium presentation projects.

Designed for Folded A4 & 8.5 × 11 Pages

Unlike 3-ring menu binders, this collection is designed primarily around folded printed sheets.

The two main paper formats are:

A4 — 21 × 29.7 cm / approximately 8.27 × 11.69 in

and

US Letter — 8.5 × 11 in / approximately 21.6 × 27.9 cm.

The sheet is folded according to the construction of the cover and held in place by the elastic cord.

The result is a simple page system without a large or complicated metal mechanism.

Best for a Compact Number of Folded Sheets

Elastic binding works best with a small to moderate number of folded sheets.

The practical capacity depends on:

  • paper thickness;
  • whether the pages are laminated;
  • the number of folded sheets;
  • elastic cord configuration;
  • the construction of the leather cover.

For this reason, we do not assign one universal page capacity to every model.

Before production, it is better to know the actual thickness of the finished printed set.

If the menu requires a large number of separate pages, our 3-ring menu binders may be a more practical solution.

Replace the Printed Pages — Keep the Leather Cover

One of the main advantages of this construction is simple:

the printed content can change while the leather cover remains.

A restaurant can:

  • change dishes;
  • update prices;
  • introduce a seasonal menu;
  • replace the wine list;
  • create a new cocktail menu;
  • prepare a special event menu.

The leather cover does not need to be remade every time.

Only the printed insert changes.

Replaceable Elastic Cords

The elastic cord itself can also be replaced.

For bulk projects, we can prepare spare elastic cords so a restaurant, hotel or agency has replacements available for future use.

After extended use, the binding can be renewed while the leather cover continues to be used.

This is particularly practical for restaurant groups and other projects where the folders are handled every day.

Metal Eyelets for the Binding

Depending on the model, the elastic cord can pass through metal eyelets.

They:

  • create a clean opening for the cord;
  • help protect the leather around the opening;
  • give the binding detail a more finished appearance.

For a folder where printed materials may be changed regularly, this is a small but practical construction detail.

Custom Elastic Cord Colors

The elastic cord can also become part of the visual design.

We can coordinate:

  • leather color;
  • elastic cord color;
  • metal eyelet finish;
  • stitching;
  • logo;
  • foil color.

The binding therefore does not have to remain purely functional.

It can support the visual identity of the project.

Rounded or Straight Corners

The shape of the corners can also change the overall character of the folder.

Straight corners create:

  • sharper geometry;
  • a more architectural appearance;
  • a more formal character.

Rounded corners make the cover feel:

  • softer;
  • more delicate;
  • more elegant;
  • visually lighter.

The difference is particularly noticeable on double-thickness models because the folder itself has a more defined shape.

Main Menu, Wine List & Cocktail Menu in One Style

For a restaurant or hotel project, we can create an entire family of folders in one coordinated style.

For example:

  • main menu;
  • wine list;
  • cocktail menu;
  • dessert menu;
  • breakfast menu;
  • tasting menu;
  • bar menu;
  • special event menu.

The main menu may use a horizontal fold.

The wine or cocktail list may use a vertical fold.

One folder can be wider while another is longer and narrower.

At the same time, the entire collection can share:

  • the same leather;
  • the same leather color;
  • the same interior finish;
  • the same elastic cord;
  • the same logo;
  • the same embossing or foil treatment;
  • the same stitching style;
  • the same corner geometry.

Different functional folders can therefore work together as one cohesive branded menu collection.

Not Only for Restaurants & Hotels

Although this collection works very well for hospitality, elastic-bound leather folders can also be used far beyond restaurant menus.

These folders are often ordered for:

  • exhibitions;
  • trade shows;
  • product presentations;
  • corporate presentations;
  • product launches;
  • private events;
  • conferences;
  • showrooms;
  • VIP presentations;
  • temporary presentation materials.

In these projects, the printed content inside may include:

  • product specifications;
  • product descriptions;
  • pricing information;
  • event programs;
  • visual presentations;
  • technical information;
  • promotional materials.

Elastic binding is especially practical for these applications because the printed content can be created specifically for one event or campaign while the premium leather cover becomes part of the presentation experience.

Product Launch & Event Presentation Folders

We recently produced this type of folder for the presentation of a new automobile.

The printed materials became part of the product presentation, while the leather folder helped present them as a complete and carefully branded object.

This is a good example of why an elastic-bound folder does not have to be used only as a restaurant menu.

The same construction can function as:

a menu cover for one project and a presentation folder for another.

Its purpose is determined by the printed content placed inside.

A4 & US Letter Presentation Folders for Events

Standard A4 and US Letter formats are also particularly practical for event projects.

An agency or design team does not need to build the entire print production around an unusual paper size.

They can prepare a standard:

A4

or

8.5 × 11 in / US Letter

document, and we can develop the custom leather presentation cover around it.

This simplifies coordination between:

  • designer;
  • printing company;
  • agency;
  • client;
  • leather manufacturer.

We Make the Cover — You Print the Content

Mureli Workshop produces the leather cover and elastic binding system.

We do not print menu pages, presentation sheets or other paper content.

The client can work with their own:

  • printing company;
  • graphic designer;
  • branding agency;
  • internal marketing team;
  • event production company.

On our side, we can adapt the cover to the approved printed format.

Custom Logo Branding

The folders can be personalized around a restaurant, hotel, corporate or event identity.

Depending on the leather and project, branding options may include:

  • blind embossing;
  • hot stamping;
  • gold foil stamping;
  • silver foil stamping;
  • colored foil stamping;
  • laser engraving for suitable applications;
  • restaurant logo;
  • hotel logo;
  • company logo;
  • event logo;
  • product name;
  • short custom text.

For hot stamping, we can create a dedicated metal die.

It can be retained and reused for future production runs.

Different Leather Inside and Outside

When the design concept requires it, the exterior and interior can use different leather colors or finishes.

Possible combinations include:

  • contrasting colors;
  • complementary shades;
  • different leather textures;
  • different finishes.

For example, the exterior can coordinate with the main corporate color while the interior introduces a secondary brand color.

This can be particularly useful for agencies and design firms working with a detailed brand book.

Real Client Projects

The photographs in the listings within this collection show real projects that Mureli Workshop has already produced for clients.

They show real examples of:

  • leather colors;
  • construction types;
  • single-layer covers;
  • double-thickness covers;
  • elastic configurations;
  • folded formats;
  • logos;
  • foil colors;
  • stitching;
  • finished proportions.

These projects can be used as reference and inspiration.

A new client is not limited to the constructions already shown on the website.

Built for Agencies, Designers & Event Production Teams

We can work as a production partner for:

  • branding agencies;
  • hospitality design firms;
  • interior designers;
  • graphic designers;
  • event agencies;
  • event production companies;
  • architects;
  • corporate marketing teams;
  • product launch teams.

A designer or agency can come to us with:

  • a finished A4 or US Letter layout;
  • a brand book;
  • logo files;
  • an event concept;
  • a corporate color palette;
  • a presentation structure.

On our side, we can help determine:

  • cover dimensions;
  • fold orientation;
  • single-layer or double-thickness construction;
  • leather combination;
  • elastic binding;
  • eyelets;
  • corner geometry;
  • branding method.

Samples & First Test Unit Before Bulk Production

Before a larger order, we can provide material samples so the client or designer can evaluate:

  • leather color;
  • texture;
  • thickness;
  • interior finish;
  • embossing;
  • foil options.

Once a bulk project has been approved, we can also produce a first test folder.

It allows the client to check:

  • the actual A4 or 8.5 × 11 printed sheet;
  • horizontal or vertical fold;
  • number of sheets;
  • elastic tension;
  • dimensions;
  • whether a single-layer or double-thickness construction works better;
  • branding;
  • overall feel.

The main production run can then begin after the test unit has been approved.

Order One Cover to Test the Format

For many models, it is also possible to order one folder first.

This can be particularly useful when the client wants to test:

  • final printed layout;
  • direction of fold;
  • number of sheets;
  • leather construction;
  • elastic binding;
  • finished proportions;
  • how the folder feels and works in use.

For a restaurant or event project, this provides an opportunity to test the actual product experience before committing to bulk production.

Restaurant Groups, Agencies & Repeat Projects

For repeat orders, we can retain the approved production specification.

This may include:

  • A4 or US Letter paper format;
  • fold orientation;
  • cover dimensions;
  • single-layer or double-thickness construction;
  • exterior leather;
  • interior leather;
  • elastic cord;
  • eyelets;
  • corner shape;
  • stitching;
  • logo placement;
  • branding method;
  • metal stamping die.

This is especially useful for restaurant chains, agencies and corporate clients that organize multiple events, repeat campaigns or open new locations.

Urgent Opening or Event? We Can Help with a Temporary Solution

Sometimes the date of a restaurant opening, exhibition or presentation cannot be moved.

If the main custom production is still in progress, we can check available inventory and explore a temporary solution.

For qualifying bulk projects, this may include approximately 10%–25% complimentary folders, depending on:

  • order volume;
  • folder construction;
  • project value;
  • available inventory.

For simpler single-layer constructions, the complimentary quantity may be higher.

For more complex double-thickness folders, it may be lower.

A simpler ready-to-ship model can also be used as a temporary solution when appropriate.

Once the main custom order arrives, the temporary folders do not need to be returned.

They can remain with the client as backup inventory.

When Elastic Binding Is the Right Choice

Leather menu covers with elastic binding are particularly suitable when:

  • A4 or US Letter / 8.5 × 11 paper is used;
  • the printed sheet is folded horizontally or vertically;
  • printed content needs to be updated regularly;
  • a small to moderate number of folded sheets is required;
  • a bulky metal binder mechanism is not needed;
  • a clean, minimalist interior is important;
  • a finished leather interior without an exposed flesh side is preferred;
  • single-layer or standing double-thickness options are required;
  • a restaurant wants the main menu, wine list and cocktail menu to share one visual style;
  • an agency needs a premium folder for an exhibition, event or product presentation.

Built Around Standard Paper — Without Looking Standard

The paper inside may be completely standard:

A4 or US Letter / 8.5 × 11 in.

But the finished product does not have to look standard at all.

We can change:

  • the direction of the fold;
  • the proportions;
  • single-layer or double-thickness construction;
  • exterior leather;
  • interior leather;
  • elastic cord;
  • eyelets;
  • corner shape;
  • logo;
  • foil or embossing.

The same standard sheet can become a:

  • restaurant menu;
  • wine list;
  • cocktail menu;
  • event presentation;
  • product launch folder.

Standard paper size. Custom leather presentation.
