These leather menu books were created by Mureli Workshop as a separate custom order for Bella restaurant.

This project shows how restaurant menus can become more than simple covers for printed pages. The leather color, shape, proportions, logo, metal eyelets, and page attachment system work together to create a physical object that becomes part of the restaurant's visual identity and something guests interact with directly at the table.

A Real Project for Bella

Bella is a Miami Beach restaurant created by chef Eyal Shani as his first concept dedicated entirely to Italian cuisine. The restaurant presents Southern Italian cooking through a Mediterranean perspective, with an emphasis on handmade pasta, seasonal ingredients, vegetables, seafood, and dishes designed to be shared.

The character of Bella is built around the warmth, generosity, and emotional nature of Italian dining. For this reason, warm brown leather works particularly well for the menu collection, giving the covers a natural and tactile appearance while supporting the atmosphere of the restaurant without unnecessary decoration.

Blind embossing keeps the branding recognizable yet restrained. No additional color is added to the leather, and the logo becomes part of the material itself, changing subtly depending on the light and viewing angle.

One Restaurant Portfolio, Different Identities

Mureli Workshop previously created another set of leather menu books for Naked Tomato. Bella and Naked Tomato are separate restaurant concepts with their own cuisine, atmosphere, and visual language, while both belong to the wider restaurant portfolio connected with chef Eyal Shani.

For us, these two projects demonstrate an important principle when working with restaurant groups: related establishments can use equally high-quality materials and maintain a consistent level of craftsmanship while each concept receives its own visual treatment.

The Naked Tomato and Bella menu collections are not intended to look identical. The goal is not to repeat the same product mechanically, but to adapt the construction, proportions, leather color, and personalization to the individual character of each restaurant.

Italian Restaurant Menu Books

This coordinated set can be used for different parts of a restaurant's menu system, including:

Blind Embossed Logo

The front of each menu cover shown in the photographs features the Bella logo applied with blind embossing.

Blind embossing does not use colored foil. The relief is pressed directly into the leather, allowing the logo to remain tactile and naturally integrated into the material.

Elastic Cord Binding

The printed menu pages are held in place by an elastic cord that passes through metal eyelets positioned near the fold of the leather cover.

This construction allows the restaurant to replace the printed pages without producing a new leather cover.

It is particularly practical when a restaurant regularly updates:

• cocktail selections;
• wine lists;

The leather cover remains in use while the printed pages can be updated whenever the menu changes.

We use top-grain calf leather and carefully select it for each type of product. Where strength and structural stability are needed, we choose denser sections of the leather. Where elasticity, softness, and a more natural texture matter, we use more flexible parts of the material.

For example, we cut leather desk pads along the upper line of the hide, which is usually flatter and more even. Rolls, on the other hand, are cut along the lower line of the hide, which is more elastic and often has a more interesting natural texture. This approach allows us to combine aesthetics, functionality, and durability in the right way.

For corporate orders, we can also offer a wider range of calf leather depending on the requirements of a particular project and the needs of the brand.

Since leather is a natural material, each product has its own unique characteristics. The shade, texture, density, and surface character may vary slightly from what you see in the photos. This is part of the value of genuine leather — every изделие preserves the living character of the material and its natural uniqueness.

Any personalization shown in the photos in our listings, including logos, names, initials, or text, is provided for demonstration purposes only. By default, we sell our products without personalization. If you would like to add your own logo, name, or text, please leave your request in the Comment field during checkout.

In many cases, we can complete laser engraving directly at the warehouse and ship the order on the same day, so this usually does not affect the dispatch time. If embossing with a metal die is required, the work is completed in our workshop in Ukraine, so delivery usually takes about 9 days instead of 1–3 days for orders shipped from our warehouse in the USA.

If the personalization includes the customer’s logo, our designer first prepares a digital mockup for approval. For wholesale and corporate orders, we also produce the first item from the batch as a sample, approve it separately, and only after the second approval do we proceed with the full production run.

If the order is shipped from Ukraine, we independently pay all customs duties and mandatory charges regardless of the destination country, so the customer does not face additional costs or difficulties when receiving the parcel.
