This collection brings together our most substantial and premium leather desk mats and desk pads, with a finished thickness of approximately 3–4 mm.

These are not simply thicker versions of our standard desk mats. They differ in construction, materials, assembly and the amount of handwork involved.

Depending on the color, desired appearance and project requirements, we build these extra thick leather desk mats in two main ways: from a single thick layer of premium belt leather, or from two layers of natural materials with leather on top and suede underneath.

Many models are also finished with traditional hand saddle stitching around the perimeter.

Two Ways We Build Our Extra Thick Leather Desk Mats

Single-Layer Premium Belt Leather

For selected models, we use a single thick layer of high-quality belt leather.

This construction is especially common for black desk mats, where dense premium leather provides enough thickness, structure and stability without requiring a second layer.

Double-Layer Leather Construction

When a client wants a specific leather color or a different type of top leather, we can build the desk mat from two layers.

A typical construction combines approximately 1.5–2 mm natural leather on top with 1.5–2 mm suede underneath.

The two layers are carefully bonded together, and the perimeter can then be additionally secured and finished with hand stitching.

The finished double-layer leather desk mat is approximately 3–4 mm thick.

The upper leather determines the:

The suede underside provides a soft finished surface against the desk while adding volume and stability to the overall construction.

This two-layer method also gives us much greater freedom when working with custom leather colors.

Hand Saddle Stitching

One of the defining features of this collection is hand saddle stitching.

On many of our extra thick desk mats, the perimeter is stitched by hand rather than simply finished with decorative machine stitching.

Saddle stitching is a traditional leatherworking technique in which each stitch is formed manually using two needles.

On a double-layer desk mat, the stitching performs two important functions.

First, it reinforces the construction around the entire perimeter. Second, the hand-stitched edge becomes a visible design element that gives the desk mat a distinctive handcrafted appearance.

The combination of premium materials, layered construction and hand-stitched leather edges makes these desk mats visually and tactilely different from standard single-layer models.

Premium Material, Not Just Extra Thickness

We do not define the value of this collection simply by saying that the desk mats are 3 or 4 mm thick.
