The Base Collection is where the Mureli Workshop cigar case story began. We created our first
leather cigar travel case in 2021, and during the following five years we continued
refining the design based on feedback from customers who actually used these cases while traveling,
visiting cigar lounges and clubs, attending events, and carrying their everyday cigar accessories.
Customers showed us what worked well, where an extra pocket would be useful, how a cutter and lighter
could be organized more comfortably, how the case should open, and which structural details could be improved.
Today, the Base Collection is much more than our first cigar case design. It is a
cigar travel case refined through five years of real customer use.
Our Original Cigar Travel Case — Refined Since 2021
The first Base model was created in 2021 and became the starting point for the cigar case collections
we developed later.
Instead of replacing the original concept, we continued improving it. Depending on the model, newer
versions may include reinforced detachable wrist straps, dual zipper pulls, exterior pockets, removable
interior holders, additional accessory loops and a more organized internal layout.
These changes were not added simply to make the product more complicated. They were introduced because
they made the case more practical in real use.
Designed for Travel and Regular Use
Base models are designed as functional leather cigar travel cases that balance capacity,
structure, protection and portability.
A typical Base case weighs approximately 700 g, depending on the leather and configuration. This makes
the collection practical for business trips, weekend travel, cigar lounge visits, private clubs, hotels,
restaurants and events.
The idea is simple: instead of carrying cigars and accessories separately, you can keep your essential
cigar setup organized in one case.
Organized Storage for Cigars, Cutter, Lighter & Accessories
Base cases are designed to carry more than cigars alone. Depending on the model and interior configuration,
the case can organize:
- cigars and cigar tubes;
- cigar cutter;
- lighter;
- slim cigar accessories;
- small personal items.
Separate pockets, loops and holders help prevent everything from collecting in one large compartment.
This is why we consider the Base Collection both a cigar travel case and a
leather cigar accessory organizer.
Zip-Around Construction & Practical Details
Many Base models use a zip-around construction that allows the case to open widely,
making the interior easy to see and access.
Depending on the version, practical details can include dual zipper pulls, a detachable wrist strap,
an exterior back pocket and removable interior elements.
A removable holder, for example, can stay in place when more organization is needed or be taken out
when the owner prefers a more open interior space.
Selected Cigar Cases with a Whiskey Flask Compartment
Selected Base models can also be configured with dedicated space for a whiskey flask together with
cigars and cigar accessories.
These designs work especially well for weekend trips, private evenings, cigar lounge visits, outdoor
events and personalized gifts.
Cigars, cutters, lighters, flasks and other accessories shown in product photography are used to demonstrate
scale, capacity and interior organization. Unless specifically stated otherwise in the product listing,
only the leather cigar case is included.
Custom Leather Colors — From Classic to Bright
Base cigar cases can be made in a variety of leather colors. The collection does not have to be limited
to traditional brown or black cigar accessories.
We can create classic combinations for a business or club atmosphere, as well as lighter, brighter or
more distinctive versions for customers who want something less traditional.
This also allows us to create cigar cases for women using brighter or softer leather colors
and more individual combinations. Leather color, stitching and personalization can be coordinated to suit
the style of the owner or the concept of a particular gift project.
Leather Selected for the Construction
Color is only one part of choosing leather for a travel case. Different sections of the case perform
different functions, so we also consider thickness, density, flexibility, texture and the role of each
component in the construction.
Some Base models are made from Crazy Horse leather, which naturally develops tonal variation, small marks
and patina with use. For a travel product, this creates a particularly natural effect: the case gradually
develops its own character over time.
Handcrafted Leather Construction
Structural sections of our cigar cases are hand stitched with a traditional saddle stitch
where this method is appropriate for the construction.
We also use metal hardware for functional elements such as zipper pulls, strap clasps, rings and connectors.
These are parts that are regularly handled when the case is opened, carried and used during travel.
For us, handmade is not simply a decorative description. Handwork is used where it contributes to the
structure, durability and character of the product.
Personalized Cigar Travel Cases
Base cases can be ordered clean and unbranded or with personalization.
Depending on the leather and model, personalization may include initials, a name, date, short text, monogram,
logo or approved custom artwork.
For more complex personalization, our designer can help determine the appropriate size, position, proportions
and production method before the final piece is made.
We can also adapt colors and branding for cigar clubs, agencies, corporate gifting and other custom projects
while keeping the travel-oriented character of the Base Collection.
For Yourself or as a Personalized Gift
Base Collection was not designed only as a gift product. First of all, it is a functional
personal cigar travel organizer for people who want to keep their cigars, cutter, lighter
and other essentials together.
At the same time, personalization makes it suitable for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, retirement,
Father's Day, weddings, groomsmen gifts and other special occasions.
A simple set of initials can keep the design understated, while a name, monogram or custom artwork can make
the case much more personal.
Five Years of Customer Feedback
One of the most important things about the Base Collection is that its development did not stop after the
first model was released.
Since 2021, we have listened to customers, watched how they use their cases, learned which accessories they
carry and paid attention to the small details that could make the experience more convenient.
Reinforced wrist straps, dual zipper pulls, exterior pockets, removable holders, additional loops and improved
interior organization are all examples of how the original concept has evolved.
The Base Collection grew together with the people who use it.
The Cigar Case Collection That Started It All
Over time, Mureli Workshop developed other cigar case constructions, including more substantial premium designs,
club-oriented models and collections with wooden inserts.
Base, however, remains our travel-oriented cigar organizer collection.
We did not replace the original idea. We continued refining it.
